RANMA 1/2: FROM NERIMA WITH LOVE

"Seven Days in Jusenkyo"

Part 1: Say it in Chinese

The world came to life around the quiet neighborhood where one Ryoga Hibiki continues on his endless journey to the Tendo Dojo. Tired and weary he finds some shade under a tree and takes a seat.
"I can't believe...walked all night...and still...no sign of the Dojo or my precious Akane.." he panted. Ryoga slung off his backpack and proceeded with setting camp. There was no way he could go on any farther without _some_ sleep. He spread out his mat, pulled up a blanket, and rested his head on the small pillow inside. Almost instantly, sleep fell over him.

Although the alarm had gone off twice already Shin refused to acknowledge it and from the looks of the sleeping beauty next to him, neither did she. It was Saturday any way....why get up so early? He reached down the side of the bed and tugged on the cord, pulling it out of the wall. The clock went blank and Shin returned to his entanglement with Brandi.
"Quit squirming.." she muttered.
"I didn't realize you were awake..." he answered, kissing her forehead. She poked him in the stomach. "I wasn't..."
They lied there a few minutes before Shin noticed the blasts of cold flying into the room. Obviously Brandi noticed it too, because she proceeded in turning away from him and taking the blanket with her. He pulled it back, she snatched it away. Over and over, back and forth, until they both couldn't stand it.
"QUIT IT!" they shouted at each other. Brandi folded her arms. "Shin, why don't you just get up and close the window."
"Why? So you can hog the blanket again?" he remarked, still holding on to it for dear life.
"You're the one who's so cold. You go close it. "
"But..."
"What?"
"Please?" he gave her the saddest look he could pull off. She glared at him hard then eased and sighed. Brandi flung her half of the blanket off and stormed to the window. She paused for a moment, inhaling the morning air. There was something envigorating about it. "I think we should get up..go out today.." she suggested. Shin rose from bed with the blanket in hand and stood behind her, enclosing the two on them inside it.
"It is nice out there.." he guessed. His eyes still told him to sleep and that he did on her shoulder. "..But can't it wait a few more hours..say noonish?"
Brandi watched the world go by down below. She knew Shin was lazy, but not quite that lazy. If he had everything his way they'd sleep til noon everyday. Luckily she was constantly on his back about getting to school and graduating. Her vision finally turned to the Tendo household across the street. It looked about as dead as this house. A thin line of smoke could be seen coming from the roof. At least Kasumi is up...she thought.
"Fine, let's go back to--what the hell?" She looked harder at the small establishment outside the Tendo Dojo. It seemed to be a tent, one she could have sworn..."Shin, why is Ryoga camped outside across the street?"
Shin opened his eyes to fine slits and wider as he realized what Brandi saw. He recognized the tent too, it was definately Ryoga. "I don't believe that guy. Bet you 1000 yen he was looking for that place, got lost, tired, and fell asleep. What a moron..." Shin pulled away from Brandi and went for the phone.
Inside the Tendo home Kasumi diligently attended to her cooking before the rush came downstairs. Above, Ranma woke to the wonderful smell of Kasumi's cooking and remembering how meals go around here, made it a point to get down there first.
"Good morning, Ranma. I hope you slept well. Would you like some breakfast?" Kasumi smiled.
"Sounds good to me.." Ranma kneeled down at the table as Kasumi placed a plate, piled high with food in front of his face. "Do me a favor. Wait a few minutes before you wake up the others. I'd kinda like to _enjoy_ my meal for once."
"Oh, no problem." Kasumi smiled again and hurried back into the kitchen. Ranma dug his chopsticks into the plate and came out with a hearty bite. He opened his mouth and brought it to his face, right when the phone rang. The chopsticks fell back to the table in his scramble to answer it, and most importantly keeping no one else from hearing it.
"Hello?"

"Hello?"
"Ranma, dude. Have you been outside lately?"
"No, I was just getting ready to eat breakfast as a matter of fact. Why?"
"Ryoga's out there...sleeping, in his tent. I don't know how long he's been there."
Ranma sighed. "Ok, thanks Shin. Bye." He hung up the phone. Knowing Ryoga he's been there all night, staring at his maps trying to find the place when he's been right outside all along. Ranma re-entered the dinning room to a table full of people. His eyes went wide and frantic at the thought that somewhere under the herd of hungry animals (basically the Panda who pushed everyone out of the way) was his own breakfast. There was no point in fighting for it. Surely it had been devoured already. Ranma went into the kitchen, got a cup, and made his way outside to the street. Surely enough, Ryoga's tent was picthed outside the gate.
"What am I doing?" Ranma said aloud. "If I'm smart I'll leave him out here. Nine chances out of ten he'll wake up and wander off again." He knelt down to get a better look at Ryoga. Blissfully he slept with a huge grin on his face. . Ranma stood and turned back to the gate, but he remembered the cup in his hands. He aimed for the opening of the tent and emptied the cup's contents (which just happen to be ice water). A questioning "bweee" came from the tent and P-Chan came charging out. Using his height to his advantage Ranma picked up the pig and held him to his face.
"Do you always have to be apart of my misery?" he snapped at it. "Because of your amazing ability to get lost in your own bedroom I had to miss breakfast. What do you have to say for yourself?"
P-Chan made a series of agitated oinks and squeals at Ranma, trying to get free. "Quit trying...you'll never--" *BWOK!* Ranma made a small arch over the wall. P-Chan waddled his way into gates, past Ranma (who was half embedded into the pavement) and to the front door. He scratched at it a little and it opened. Akane looked out beyond him and glowered.
"Little tricksters...." she turned to close the door when P-Chan spoke up (as best a pig can 'speak up'). "Bwee!"
"Wha-? Oh, P-Chan!" Akane held up the tiny pig and squeezed it against her chest. Across the yard he could see Ranma with a peach sized lump on his head shooting him an evil look. Without one word to Ranma, Akane shut the door behind her, leaving him outside in pain.

Mousse woke up earlier than usual himself and spent the past hour lying in bed thinking of Shampoo. He had the most incredible dream about her...It was just her and him, sitting on the roof of the Nekohanten. She melted in his arms as they admired the night sky littered with stars. Slowly Mousse brought her face up to his and for once she put up no fight. Just as their lips would touch she whispered a soft "wo ai ni" to him. If only the dream hadn't gone sour at that moment, when that old prune face Colonge hopped up beside them and smacked him over the head. He woke up that second, swearing to himself.
Outside the sun crept it's way into his window more and more. Soon, Cologne would bust into his room to wake him. Only this time he wasn't going to let the old bag get the one up on him. Mousse rose from his bed and quickly dressed. A glance in the mirror, a brush through his hair and he was ready to face the day . He smiled at the thought of Cologne's face when he was already hard at work downstairs. Mousse whistled to himself and opened the bedroom door. On his way out a stream of water from a bucket hit his face. "Quuuaaaack!!"
"{Well, good morning Mousse. Glad to see you're already up.}" Cologne cackled, setting the bucket down. Behind her he could see Shampoo giggling uncontrolably. "Now quit doddling and go fix yourself up before I add you to the menu!" she swung her cane at him

"Now quit doddling and go fix yourself up before I add you to the menu!" she swung her cane at him, sending the duck flapping back into the room. Mousse waddled back into his bathroom and hopped up onto the sink. With his bill he twisted to hot water knob and waited. He couldn't believe this. Although he had gotten up way before them Cologne still caught him. And Shampoo just stood there, laughing. (It's just like her not to care about my feelings) he thought. A cloud of steam rose from the sink and the duck dipped himself in. Mousse became Mousse again.
"{Nihao Mousse...}" Shampoo said behind him. Mousse turned to a flower pot that was in the bathroom and bowed. "{Good morning my love.}" he said to the flower. Shampoo rolled her eyes. After all this time it was still hard for her to believe that Mousse was that big of an idiot. "{Why for you and Colonge splash me this morning?}" he continued.
"{Great-grandmother think funny. Shampoo think funny too. Need morning wake up call for Mousse.}" she smiled.
Mousse glared at the flower. "{I was already awake!!!}"
"{We just make sure.}"
"Gyahhh!!!" Mousse swung his hand, knocking the plant to the floor. He held his hand in horror as when he thought about what he did. "{Shampoo?}"
"{Ahh, maybe should put glasses on Mousse...}" Shampoo picked up his glasses and slipped them on his face. Mousse's vision went from complete blur to perfect clarity. He gazed down at the plant and chuckled. Behind him Shampoo shook her head in shame. In a rush of sudden embarassment Mousse threw on his clothes, blushing furiously as Shampoo waved him off.
"{Wait my love don't---}oof!" Mousse tripped over the bucket Cologne had left behind. Sadly there was still enough water in it to change him back into a duck. At least he hadn't shut of the hot water in the bathroom sink, but he was in no hurry this time to change back. He took this time to brood a little. When he was splashed earlier Shampoo had just laughed like always, but it bothered him this time. For some reason he remembered being petted and taken care of when he transformed, not tortured and ridiculed. . He'd been here so long; Had he forgotten his friends back home? Or has Shampoo filled his head so much that the rest was just pushed out? Mousse ruffled his feathers.
"{MOUSSE!!!}" for some reason Cologne came back. She saw the over turned bucket on the floor and fumed. "{Lazy good for nothing! Think you can use your curse to get out of work today?}" Mousse tried to respond, but only a screeching 'quack' came out. Cologne prepared her battle stance.."{I'll show you to slack off!}"
